It’s no secret that the Caribbean is the top private island destination in the world. From
Belize to Bonaire the Caribbean is teaming with private islands and
Private Island resorts.
The Caribbean is the top island destination for a number of reasons. First, as I have already alluded to the shear number of islands in the region means that there is a wide variety of islands to choose from. Secondly, the islands are located in relative proximity to some of the wealthiest nations on the planet including the US, Canada and Europe. Thirdly, there is a wide price range to choose from, from exclusive private island resorts, to rustic and remote private islands. Finally the Caribbean islands are generally a safe place to travel. Unlike other island regions in the world there is a lower rate of crime and the countries are politically stable.
Nonetheless, despite the Caribbean currently being a top destination, this may soon change with the emergence of China and India as economic powers. The rising affluence of their large populations could mean the South Pacific could soon be the next Caribbean.
